About the School

Since 1986, Prism Career Institute has been providing quality certificate programs that concentrate on technical training in the healthcare and legal fields. Prism Career Institute offers convenient locations at three campuses in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. All programs are licensed by the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Departments of Education, and accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET).

Academic Programs

Prism Career Institute offers the following certificate programs:

• Medical Assistant – Program to prepare graduates to assist physicians and other health professionals, and teaches skills such as taking patient histories, scheduling, and managing medical supplies. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are prepared for national certification.
• Medical Billing and Coding – Program teaching the highly specialized skills needed to work in medical billing and coding. Students will be able to pursue opportunities in doctors’ offices, hospitals, insurance companies, and HMO’s.
• Patient Care Assistant – Program teaching the necessary skills to assist and support patients with day-to-day functions. Skills will be taught such as performing electrocardiograms and CPR, and taking patient vitals. An externship is part of this training program.
• Practical Nursing – Full-time day program taking 15 months that prepares students in the basic skills and knowledge required for a career as a practical nurse. The program provides a combination of classroom instruction and hands on experience in local health care facilities. Students will be eligible to take the licensing examination for practical nurses to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Paralegal Studies – Program focused business training program to train students for a career as a Paralegal. Flexible schedules are offered.

Learning Options

Many of the programs at Prism Career Institute offer part-time, flexible schedules for students, although the Practical Nursing program is a full-time program held during the day. Programs are updated to reflect employer needs, in order to prepare students with the appropriate skills to excel in the workforce.

Students benefit from knowledgeable faculty who are professionals with industry-specific experience. The faculty at Plaza College are available to advise students with their studies and career goals.

Student Life

Prism Career Institute offers commuters three convenient locations: Philadelphia, PA; Cherry Hill, NJ; and West Atlantic City, NJ. The Institute provides job placement assistance and support to its students.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Plaza College requires all prospective students to have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be age consistent with state requirements. Interested students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the school to review program options and to assist with the application. Students will also need to undergo a basic skills evaluation.

The Financial Aid Office at Prism Career Institute assists students with the necessary paperwork to secure financial aid, including grants, scholarships and loans.
