About the School
Founded in 1965, The Refrigeration School, Inc (RSI) provides training in refrigeration, air conditioning and heating technologies; electrical technologies; and electro-mechanical technologies. The school also offers an associate degree in mechanical maintenance engineering. The programs provide certificates for each completed course. The programs blend classroom learning with hands-on training.
The Refrigeration School, Inc offers the E-STAR system of troubleshooting, which offers hands-on experience with trouble shooting electrical problems. In addition, the school has more than 21,000 square feet of training facilities.
Academic Programs
- Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Technologies – Trains students for entry-level jobs as service and maintenance technicians. Training is provided for new and old models of equipment. Electrical troubleshooting with the E-STAR System is part of the program.
- Electrical Technologies – Students are prepared for entry-level jobs as new construction and maintenance electricians in the electrical industry. The program offers a foundation in electrical principles and the National Electric Code. Training stations are utilized for the application of electrical techniques. Students learn residential and commercial wiring techniques.
- Electro-Mechanical Technologies Program – Graduates have opportunities for employment in entry-level positions as service and maintenance technicians in the fields of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration. Graduates may also seek maintenance electrician jobs. Students are taught wiring applications, mechanical and electrical principles, air conditioning and advanced trouble-shooting techniques.
- Mechanical Maintenance Engineering Associate Degree – Graduates of the program have opportunities for jobs as heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) technicians and electricians. They also have opportunities for institutional and industrial maintenance engineering jobs and industrial refrigeration positions. In addition, they may apply for jobs that require maintenance and service for large, complex systems.
