About RETS College
RETS College offers associate degrees and diploma programs in the fields of healthcare, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration, technology, and legal. According to the college, the programs are designed to meet the demands of the business community. The programs combine theory and practice. The school is owned by Education Affiliates, Inc.
RETS College Academic Programs
A selection of the programs available at the college include:
- Criminal Justice – Examines the United States criminal law and courts and various aspects of investigations and security. The curriculum also reviews relevant computer technologies, communication techniques, victimology as well as multicultural/juvenile issues.
- Electronic Engineering Technology – Provides a strong foundation in electronic and electrical theory. Students work with a variety of integrated circuits, radio frequency devices and microprocessors. Students also learn about robotics.
- Medical Assisting – Reviews the various aspects of the occupation. Medical terminology, the systems and functions of the human body and a variety of office skills are also reviewed. An externship in a healthcare setting provides valuable experience. Students are also prepared to take the Certified Medical Assistant examination.
- Practical Nursing – The program includes classroom learning, clinical laboratory training and patient care at numerous clinical sites. Graduates have an opportunity to take the National Council Licensing Examination.
- Associate Degree in Nursing – Students that meet the Ohio requirements as a licensed practical nurse are trained to become a registered nurse. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensing Examination. The exam pertains to becoming a registered nurse.
- Paralegal Associate Degree – The program has been approved by the American Bar Association. Students are trained with various computer software programs. The curriculum provides a foundation in various areas of the law. Students also learn to draft legal memoranda, perform electronic and manual legal searches and other tasks. An optional internship program is available.
Faculty
The school notes that its classes are taught by qualified, experienced instructors. The small class sizes allow the instructors to provide one-on-one attention.
Student Life
Typically, the college has over 600 students. RETS College is a commuter school. In addition, representatives from the Student Affairs department are available to assist students on a variety of issues. Career services personnel are also available to assist graduates with finding job opportunities.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Candidates must have a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent. The admissions staff members take the time to review career goals with applicants in order to find the best education program for the candidate. Regarding financial assistance, federal loans and grants and other types of financial aid are available to those who qualify. Typically, close to 90% of the students receive some type of financial assistance.
