About the School

With two locations in Utah, SkinScience Institute of Laser and Esthetics provides students with Basic and Master Esthetician state licensing preparation courses to prepare for careers in skin care centers, medispas, and physician's offices. SkinScience strives to provide students with comprehensive esthetics programs, with experienced faculty and staff in modern facilities. Programs at SkinScience include para-medical training in addition to teaching students about esthetics equipment, treatments and terminology used in the fields of dermatology as well as laser and plastic surgery. The school is accredited by The National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences (NACCAS), recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the national accrediting agency for cosmetology & esthetic schools.

Academic Programs

SkinScience offers the following three certificate programs:

  • 600 Hour Basic – Program designed to train students for the Basic Esthetician's license to meet most state requirements. Some of the areas taught include facial treatments, skin analysis, manicures and pedicures, waxing, paraffin treatments, acne treatments, makeup application, and First Aid, among many others. This course meets the basic esthetician hour requirements for licensure in most states.
  • 600 Hour Master – Program designed for students who have previously attended a cosmetology program or a basic esthetics course, or for licensed estheticians desiring career advancement. Advanced topics include rosacea treatments, microdermabrasion, advanced manicures and pedicures, body wraps, and lymphatic draining massage, among others. This course meets the Master Esthetician hour requirements for licensure in the state of Utah, and the curriculum exceeds the training requirements in most states.
  • 1200 Hour Basic & Master – Comprehensive program designed for new esthetics students, covering all aspects of esthetics. This course meets the Master Esthetician hour requirements for licensure in the state of Utah, and the curriculum exceeds the training requirements in most states.

In addition, all subjects are available as continuing education classes for licensed Estheticians, Master Estheticians and medical professionals.

Learning Options

SkinScience offers students the option of attending classes during the day or evening, with classes held Monday through Friday. Classes start frequently, with new classes beginning every other month. Each of the programs includes hands-on training in the student clinic, where students are supervised by a qualified esthetics instructor.

Faculty

Instructors at SkinScience are educated and highly qualified in esthetics. Class sizes are small, allowing for personalized learning. The school also has occasional guest speakers to provide a thorough and well-rounded esthetics education.

Student Life

SkinScience has two commuter locations in Utah, in Salt Lake City and Lindon, and has relocation resources for students needing to relocate. Students learn on state-of-the-art equipment, and student clinics include hands-on workstations. The Institute also has an extensive esthetics library on campus with research and reference materials for use by students and staff. Graduates become members of the school's Alumni Association, staying connected with skin care professionals all over the country and have the opportunity to network with other graduates of SkinScience programs through the school's web site.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students interested in attending SkinScience Institute must be above the age of compulsory, with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. In addition, students must present to the school two forms of identification, such as a state-issued photo ID, driver's license, passport, birth certificate, or social security card. Along with the application for enrollment, students must include two letters of recommendation and a student essay.

SkinScience is fully accredited and eligible to participate in Federal Student Aid programs and can assist students with obtaining government grants and loans. Some of the options available to students include Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and private loans. The school also offers several scholarship options for qualifying prospective students.
