About the School

Founded in 1892, Spencerian College is a part of the Sullivan University System. The school was established by Enos Spencer, a well known business educator of his time. Spencerian College provides career-oriented programs in a variety of areas including business, medical, and technical. The programs blend classroom learning with on-the-job-training. The curriculums available vary by campus. In addition, the school's advisory boards include professionals in the fields of nursing, medical and business.

Academic Programs

Spencerian college provides numerous programs that it calls career-first programs, which include only the courses required to meet professional goals. The curriculums have also been designed to meet the requirements of employers. The college reports that the programs utilize equipment and facilities that are above industry standards.

Program areas include:

  • Health Sciences – The many available health sciences programs give students a wide range of career choices. These include: nursing; assistants in clinical laboratories, medical administration, and opthamology; technician/technologists in cardiovascular, radiography, medical laboratories, radiology, and surgery; specialists in healthcare reimbursements, clinical, and medical coding; therapists in massage; and more.
  • Technology – Covers fields including: Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), computer engineering, electronics engineering, computer information systems, and computer repairs.
  • Business – Readies students for business careers through study options including: office professional, executive assistant, accounting and management, and business office management.

Faculty

The instructors have the skills and experience to prepare students for their selected field of employment. Each class has less than 20 students which allows the instructors to offer one-on-one assistance.

Student Life

Spencerian College offers student housing. The college also offers a Lifetime Nationwide Employment Service program. The Lifetime Review Privileges program allows graduates to audit, review or retake any course they previously completed without additional tuition fees.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Students are required to have a high school diploma or a GED certificate and have an interview with an admissions representative. Applicants must also show the appropriate aptitude for the subject they choose to study. In addition, specialized curriculums have a selective admissions process.

Financial aid such as scholarships, grants and loans are provided to those who qualify. Spencerian College has been given approval to provide training for veterans and their survivors and children. The school also provides training for clients of the vocational rehabilitation department.
