About the School

Saint Joseph's University Online is an extension of the school's campus-based university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which was founded in 1851 as a Roman Catholic University. St. Joseph's Online school offers degree and certificate programs in business, criminal justice, and education.

Academic Programs

Saint Joseph's online program areas include:

  • Business Intelligence – The program is designed to give students a strong baseline understanding in both technology and quantitative decision science techniques that facilitate interpretation of business data. Studies incorporate: business modeling for forecasting and analysis; review of business intelligence technologies; integration of diverse sources of information; and assessment of workflows, data analysis, and technology skills needed within an operation.
  • Criminal Justice – Programs are structured to help students pursue new and advanced careers in law enforcement, management within criminal justice and private security, intelligence roles in government, and in law and paralegal fields. Core studies cover research, criminology, ethics, and professional writing while concentration options include homeland security and behavior analysis.
  • Education
    • Instructional Technology programs are aimed at readying students to take on technology leadership roles within a school, district, or regional setting.
    • A Secondary Education program focuses on scientifically based knowledge to help students take on secondary education roles within content areas like math, science, English, social studies, history, etc.
    • Special Education programs base studies on Response to Intervention (RTI), an approach for diagnosing learning disabilities. The programs' goals are targeted at advancing the capabilities of professional educators for instructing special needs students in a range of school environments.
    • A Wilson Reading System® program is for giving teachers the skills needed to facilitate students becoming successful readers.
    • The Accelerated Teacher Certification program is to help working professionals gain a first secondary teaching certificate.

Faculty

Admissions and Financial Aid

Requirements for acceptance vary by program but all at least require a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Requirements may include submittal of GMAT/GRE test scores. In some cases such test requirements may be waived if a student has completed certain professional certifications.

Financial aid is available to qualified students. In fast most of Saint Joseph's online students receive financial aid. The school's Admissions Representatives work with applicants to complete aid applications.
