About Texas Careers
Texas Careers is owned by the Kaplan Higher Education corporation. Each year, Kaplan provides education programs to one million students located across the United States and abroad. The school currently offers numerous programs in the field of healthcare as well as programs in computers, legal studies and business. According to the school, the diploma and certificate curriculums are designed to meet the needs of employers. Texas Careers also reports to offer a blend of professionals education, work experience and career training.
Texas Careers Academic Programs
Shown below is a selection of the programs offered by Texas Careers:
- Computer Support Technician – Students are trained to provide administration, maintenance and support for computer systems and networks. The program also includes a comprehensive review of computer hardware and software.
- Medical Assistant Diploma – Offers comprehensive training in medical law and ethics, pharmacology, medical terminology, electrocardiographs and other topics. Graduates have the opportunity to take the Certified Medical Assistant exam. The program also includes an externship.
- Dental Assistant – The program offers a comprehensive review of the various tasks performed by a dental assistant. Students are provided the knowledge and skills to take the Registered Dental Assistant exam.
- Paralegal Diploma – Reviews the primary areas of the law and the court systems. Students are trained to work with legal software programs and perform legal research. The curriculum also prepares students for the Certified Legal Assistant exam.
- Computer Business Systems – The curriculum offers training in operating systems, publishing and presentation, computer concepts, help desk support and database management. Graduates have opportunities to take entry-level jobs at call centers, help desks, corporate offices and other settings.
- Vocational Nursing Diploma – The program blends medical knowledge and hands-on training. Graduates of the program are able to work with patients ranging from infants to senior citizens.
Faculty
The instructors provide their real-world experience to the classrooms. The teachers also emphasize practical learning.
Student Life
The Career Services Department assists students with finding part-time employment and creating a resume. The department also offers assistance to alumni throughout their careers. Some students may qualify for the Federal Work Study Program.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Admissions personnel help applicants with the admissions procedure. Applicants are required to have a high school diploma or a GED certificate. However, for some of the curriculums, applicants without a high school diploma or a GED certificate may enroll at the school after demonstrating the "Ability To Benefit" from the training by passing a test. Concerning school costs, the Financial Aid Office representatives help students create a financial aid package.
