About the School

The Hair Design School is part of Empire Beauty group of schools. The facilities offer the Empire's Certified Learning in Cosmetology educational program. Empire Beauty Schools have been providing cosmetology programs for over 70 years. The Empire Education Group owns over 80 schools and is one of the largest providers of cosmetology programs in the United States.

The Hair Design School provides training in Cosmetology, Dermalogica, Nail Technology, Esthetics and Teacher of Cosmetology Courses. The facilities provide salon standard equipment. All the programs include training in sales strategies, salon management, marketing and communication skills. The school's Professional Student Kits include the newest versions of shears, blow-dryers, clippers, texture shears, mannequins and other items.

Academic Programs

• Cosmetology – Offers a strong foundation in the techniques of cosmetology and esthetics as well as advanced procedures. Training in nail services is also included. The program blends theory with practical training. Students have the opportunity to work with actual clients. In addition, students are prepared to take state licensing exams.
• Nail Technology – Provides training in nail art and sculpting, manicures and pedicures as well as silk and fiberglass wrap. The program also includes business development and retail training.
• Esthetics – Offers training in massage, facials, aroma therapy, makeup, waxing and body treatment techniques. Business planning and retail strategies are examined in the program.
• Teacher Training – Provides a comprehensive review of teaching methodologies and educational techniques that are used in managing classrooms and producing lesson plans. Enrollees are also trained to evaluate the capabilities of their students.
• Dermalogica – Trains students with the Dermalogica skin care system which includes cleansers, moisturizers, conditioners, masques, treatment foundations and other products. Training with Dermalogica's Face Mapping SM method is also included in the program.

Faculty

The instructors are licensed and have real-world experience in their field of teaching. The teachers provide students with career guidance and special instruction classes. The teachers also attend technical and classroom management training classes.

Student Life

Empire's large number of cosmetology schools provide training to approximately 20,000 students on an annual basis, providing students with many networking opportunties. Career placement opportunities are provided through the Empire Education Group's relationships with numerous salon organizations.

Admissions and Financial Aid

The school requires students to have a high school diploma or a GED certificate or pass an Ability to Benefit Assessment Test. Students must also have an interview with a Career Planning office representative. Regarding financial assistance, the school provides federal grants and loans as well as private scholarships, loans and ACE Grants to those who qualify.
