About University of Wisconsin-Superior Online
Founded in 1893, the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UW-Superior) is a public liberal arts college in the University of Wisconsin System, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees on campus in Superior, Wisconsin. UW-Superior also offers online learning for nontraditional students through their Distance Learning Center. Through this Center, students can earn a bachelor's degree that is academically equivalent to campus programs. UW-Superior has been offering distance learning for over 30 years, and has graduated more than 1,000 students in these programs.
Academic Programs
Through the Distance Learning Center, the University of Wisconsin-Superior offers the following online degree programs:
- Bachelor of Science in Communicating Arts - program that is concentrated in Speech Communication, leading to a variety of careers. Several minors are available including Geography, Library Science, Philosophy, Psychology, or an Individually Designed minor.
- Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education - program preparing students for careers working with children, such as certified teachers. Minors are available in Adaptive Education/Special Education, Broadfield Language Arts/Reading Teaching, Early Childhood, Geography, Health Education, Library Science, and Social Studies Teaching.
- Bachelor of Science with an Individually Designed Major - interdisciplinary program where students work with an advisor and faculty to design a major within at least three areas of study.
- Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Management - program offered collaboratively by four of the University of Wisconsin campuses, preparing students for careers helping businesses developing sustainable practices.
Learning Options
Classes at UW-Superior are offered on a term basis in the fall, spring and summer, with students required to complete all coursework by the end of each term. Most courses are completed entirely online, with a small number of exceptions requiring campus visits. Students generally communicate with instructors via e-mail, and take exams through a proctor service.

Faculty members at UW-Superior are highly qualified in their respective fields and available to assist students throughout the program.
Student Life
Programs are flexible, allowing adult learners the ability to continue working throughout the program. The Distance Learning Center provides support to students to assist with all of their academic needs.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Applicants to the Distance Learning Center must be residents of the United States, citizens who reside outside of the U.S. but have reliable internet access, or students who have previously attended and completed coursework in the University of Wisconsin System. All interested students must complete an online application, and submit any previous official transcripts. Additional requirements may apply. Financial aid is available to qualified applicants, with options such as grants, loans, scholarships, and military benefits, among others.
