About the School

Founded in 1986, The Utah College of Massage (UCMT) provides comprehensive programs in massage therapy and esthetics. The college is a family of massage therapy and skin care schools owned by Steiner Leisure Limited, a global provider of spa services. The company has spas and salons in more than 100 cruise ships and over 50 resort spas. Steiner recruits graduates from the Utah College of Massage Therapy schools.

Academic Programs

  • Massage Therapy – Provides training in massage therapy and operating a business. Training is also included in structural bodywork modalities, light energy work as well as Eastern and Western massage techniques. A holistic approach to health and healing is also provided. In addition, a broad understanding in physiology, pathology and anatomy are included in the program. Students also gain experience from a clinical internship.
  • Master Bodyworker – Offers an advanced multidisciplinary approach to bodyworking. The curriculum includes training in sports injury management, rehabilitative protocols, Myokinetic techniques and hydrotherapy spa treatments.
  • Esthetics – Includes training in makeup artistry, hair removal, body treatments and basic facials and other topics. The program also includes plenty of hands-on clinical experience. The structure and the function of the skin are emphasized in the curriculum. The essential aspects of operating a business are also included.
  • Master of Esthetics – Includes training in microdermabrasion, hydrotherapy, Ayurvedic principles, advanced chemical peels, cosmetic chemistry and other subjects. The program also includes business courses.

Admissions and Financial Aid

In order to attend the Utah College of Massage Therapy, students need a high school diploma or a GED credential or achieve a passing grade on an "Ability to Benefit" test. In addition, financial aid is provided to eligible students.
