About the School
Founded in 1995, Video Symphony began as an Avid Rental and Training Center for entertainment production professionals. Over the last ten years, the school has evolved into a school focused on TV & Film Editing, Pro Tools Editing and Mixing, and Motion Graphics/Broadcast Design training. Video Symphony is located in the Media District of Burbank, California, in close proximity to major Hollywood production companies.
Students at Video Symphony gain a broad scope of skills and practical experience through comprehensive training programs. Quality classroom instruction with professional equipment is combined with hands-on learning on real-world productions. Video Symphony's training programs are Hollywood-grade, industry-authorized by major digital media software manufacturers. The school is the world's largest Avid training center, and is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET).
Academic Programs
- Film and Video Editing Program – Formerly known as Avid Professional Program, students are trained to become a skilled Avid or Final Cut Pro editor, the standard tools for professional film and video post production. The program trains students for advanced industry-level expertise in about one year.
- Digital Audio Recording, Editing, Mixing and Mastering: Pro Tools Audio Engineering Program – Program includes classroom and hands-on production studio training. Students learn skills such as recording, editing, mixing, mastering, sound design and effects, and voice-over production, among others. Program includes Pro Tools certification training, teaching audio production for film, TV, music, and video gaming.
- Graphics Animation and Effects Program – Program designed to last 10 months, with a series of 25 classes teaching skills using the applications most favored by the post production industry. Included in the program is the opportunity to create a demo reel.
Learning Options
Video Symphony has a flexible, revolving course schedule, with counselors helping students schedule their classes at a comfortable pace. Both day and evening programs are offered. Students typically attend classes from 16 to 24 hours a week, with an occasional week free of classes. Hands-on-Time (H.O.T.) in the lab is part of each class, with one student per system in the lab, and instructors on duty for assistance. Program students are guaranteed generous amount of H.O.T time.

Located in the Burbank Media District, the faculty at Video Symphony have extensive industry experience and are active studio professionals. The faculty are talented in their respective areas, with notable credits such as Oscar and Emmy nominations and awards.
Student Life
Video Symphony offers students the advantage of being within three miles of major companies such as Warner Bros, Disney, Universal, NBC, ABC, and CBS. Students commonly attend class with industry professionals, giving them the ability to form valuable contacts and friendships. The school does not have campus housing, but has a program to help students who must relocate, giving them affordable and convenient options. The student population at Video Symphony is very diverse, with international students coming to learn about entertainment production.
Admissions and Financial Aid
Video Symphony does not require any previous digital media experience. All incoming students must have a high school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED. Students must also be competent in English. In addition, students must interview with a Video Symphony Admissions Representative, and score a satisfactory level on an admissions test.
The school's Financial Aid Director meets with each student to create an individual financial aid package. The school offers Federal student aid, Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and private student loans for qualified students.
