About the School

Virginia College Online's mission is to offer students the chance to pursue a college degree online while they maintain their commitments to work and family. The school offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs for business, criminal justice, health and medical, Information Technology, and in specialty program areas.

Academic Programs

  • Business – Offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degree programs that are targeted at high-demand professions in business and technology.
  • Criminal Justice – Designed for those starting or improving careers in fields such as law enforcement, private security, and corrections.
  • Health and Medical – Assists in getting ready for healthcare management roles with such organizations as hospitals, physician practices, ambulatory care centers, and home health agencies.
  • IT/Technology – Offers specializations via bachelor’s and master’s programs. Design to give students a baseline understanding of topics important to successful IT in business. Coursework includes simulations, hands-on exercises, and real-life experiences.
  • Specialty – Gives students the chance to build on their education in a selected field with the convenience of Virginia College's Online environment.

Students have the flexibility of completing coursework online at any time of the day or week via any quality internet connection. Students are given class work and deadlines with each course's syllabus.

Faculty

Instructors in these programs are educators experienced in presenting distance learning courses. The school emphasizes that faculty and staff communicate regularly with industry leaders to help ensure that courses remain current with practices and trends.

Student Notes

All applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Admissions associates discuss other academic courses necessary for admission to specific program. The admissions assistants also talk to prospective students about equipment and technical requirements for online studies. A representative of the Financial Aid department works with students to find the appropriate sources of funds including scholarships, grants, and loans. The school's Career Services Associates work with students to help them move into new careers or enhance existing ones.
