Western Career College offers career-focused undergraduate and certificate programs in healthcare, criminal justice and graphic design. Practical learning is a major part of the curriculums. Academic Programs

Program of study areas include:

  • Medical – This area offers a number of career focused studies, including: medical assisting, health information technology, administration, billing, vocational nursing, registered nursing, surgical technology, ultrasound technology, biotechnology, massage therapy, and respiratory therapy. Summaries for a few of these studies are below:
    • Medical Assistant – Offers training in laboratory, administrative and clinical procedures. The program is based on the guidelines provided by the American Association of Medical Assistants. In addition, the students are able to gain experience via an externship.
    • Surgical Technologist – Blends classroom learning with clinical training. Graduates have opportunities for employment in hospital operating rooms, surgery centers, delivery rooms, emergency departments and other settings.
    • Vocational Nurse – Designed to be comprehensive, the curriculum prepares students for employment in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, clinics, physician's offices, home health agencies and other settings.
  • Dental – Covers dental hygiene and dental assisting careers. For the dental hygiene program, training is provided in assessing a patient's general and oral health and removing plaque, stain and tartar. Dental radiography and other subjects are included.
  • Pharmacy – Offers a pharmacy technology program that is structured to be foundation for students going into positions ranging from entry-level to licensed pharmacist. Graduates are readied for taking the CPhT exam.
  • Veterinary – Provides a veterinary technology program that is for preparing students to take on entry-level roles in veterinary medical environments. Includes an externship with clinical and field segments.
  • Criminal Justice – The Criminal Justice program emphasizes criminal investigation/loss prevention security. The curriculum includes investigative studies, analysis of security systems, practical application techniques and other topics.
  • Graphics – Students can study graphics communications and design drafting. For the Graphic Communications program enrollees are prepared for entry-level jobs in 3D animation, web design, multi media, graphic design, graphic art and other fields of employment.
