Overview

Adelphi University is a private, nonsectarian university located in Garden City, New York. It was founded on June 24, 1896. The university is the oldest institution of higher learning on Long Island. The 2006 Princeton Review listed Adelphi as one of the 'Nation's Best Universities.' AU offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. It is organized into the following schools and colleges:

AU has an active Greek life, with several fraternities and sororities. Among these are Delta Sigma Pi, Kappa Sigma, Delta Gamma and Delta Sigma Theta. The campus is home to many recognized clubs and organizations, including LGBTSSA, Hellenic Society, PAWS Web Radio and The Delphian, AU's student-run newspaper.
