Albany Medical College, founded in 1839 and also known as AMC, is a part of Albany Medical Center. Located in Albany, New York, AMC's recent enrollments have been more than 500 students every year. AMC offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. The college offers multiple courses of study through the following divisions:
- Alden March Bioethics Institute
- Center for Cardiovascular Sciences
- Center for Cell Biology and Cancer Research
- Center for Immunology and Microbial Disease
- Center for Neuropharmacology and Neuroscience
- Center for Nurse Anesthesia
- Center for Physician Assistant Studies
Doctoral stipends are available for doctoral students who qualify. They receive this stipend in the form of a Predoctoral Research Assistantship during their first three years of study. Some of the notable alumni of AMC include Steven J. Burakoff, cancer specialist and author; Theobald Smith, pioneering epidemiologist and pathologist; and Willis R. Whitney, an American chemist.
