Overview

Alcorn State University was established in the year 1871 and is located in Lorman, Mississippi, United States. It was the first state-supported higher education institution for African American students. The university was named after James L. Alcorn, the then governor of Mississippi. Alcorn State University enrolls more than 3,000 students on an annual basis. It offers degrees and certificate programs in more than 50 fields of study. Alcorn State University operates seven academic divisions including the:

Athletics
