Overview

The American Academy of Art is a private school of fine arts located in Chicago, Illinois. It was established in 1923. The institution offers bachelor’s degrees in fine arts in life drawing, oil painting, 3D Modeling and animation, and watercolor painting, among others.

The American Academy of Art awards its top students with the prestigious William H. Mosby Scholarship, named after the academy’s master artist professor. Some of its notable alumni are Joyce Ballantyne Brand, designer of the Coppertone girl; Alex Ross, an American comic book painter; and Jill Thompson, an American comic book writer. The institute also offers career counseling services to its students.
