Overview

Established in 1884, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts is located in New York, New York. In 1974, the academy opened another campus in Pasadena, California, which shifted to Hollywood, California in 2001. Renowned architect Stanford White designed the New York campus’ landmark building, the Colony Club. The academy offers associate’s degrees in occupational studies along with certificates in the acting field. The academy signed an agreement with St. John’s University to allow its students transfer there to earn a bachelor’s degree in television and film studies.

Around 30% of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts’ student body is made up of international students. Some of the notable alumni of the college include Water Abel, American stage and film actor; Armand Assante, four-time Golden Globe nominated film actor; and Elizabeth Victoria Montgomery, American film and television actress.
