Arkansas State University is a public university that was established in 1909. The Newport campus of Arkansas State University was established in 1989. Also referred to as ASUN, the institute was originally known as the White River Vocational Technical School. In 1992, it merged with ASU-Beebe and became Arkansas State University-Newport. The campus is located in Newport, Arkansas.
Arkansas State University-Newport offers associate’s degrees in arts, science, teaching and applied science. Various technical certificates, certificate of general studies and certificates of proficiency programs are also available.
Arkansas State University -Newport sponsors a large number of student clubs and organizations, including the Student Government Association, the PEM Club, Phi Theta Kappa and the Minority Support Group. Students also participate in intramural sports like basketball, softball and ping pong.
