Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, popularly referred to as AMBS, traces its roots to several institutes that were established in the late 1800s. The Elkhart Institute, established in 1894, and later known as the Goshen College, finally became the Goshen Biblical Seminary in the mid-1900s. The Mennonite Biblical Seminary founded in 1945, started offering joint sessions with the Goshen Biblical Seminary in 1954. Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary began as a result of this venture, and was finally incorporated as a single seminary in 1994. The 33-acre campus of the seminary is located in Elkhart, Indiana.
