Overview

Auburn University at Montgomery began as an extension center of the University of Alabama, which was established in 1936. AUM was founded in 1967 by the Alabama Legislature, and began its first session in 1969. It moved to a new 500 acre campus in 1971.

The student population at AUM is comprised of 63% females and 37% males, and the student-faculty ratio stands at 16:1. AUM has the following five schools and colleges:
