Overview
Avila University, also referred to as AU, is located in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. It was founded in 1916 as Saint Teresa College. It was renamed to College of Saint Teresa in 1941. The college moved to its present location in 1963 and adopted the current name. It was named after Saint Teresa of Avila. The campus comprises of more than 10 buildings and spreads across an area of approximately 50 acres. AU offers several degrees and certificate programs through the following college and schools:

The student organizations of AU play an active role in the students lives. Some of the organizations include the Black Student Union, Avila Student Nurses Organization, Avila Education Association, Kappa Delta Pi, Sigma Tau Delta, Student Senate, Residence Hall Association, International Student Organization, Student Social Work Association, and Radiologic Science Club.

Athletics
School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Heart of America Athletic Conference for major sports.
