Overview

Barry University, also referred to as Barry, is a private, coeducational, Catholic university located in Miami Shores, Florida, United States. It was established in 1940 as a college for women and was named Barry College for Women. Later, it transformed to a coeducational college and gained university status on November 13, 1981. It was then renamed Barry University. The main University campus stretches over more than 120 acres of urban land.

Notable alumni of Barry University include David M. Kopp, famous human resources expert; Flo Rida, American rapper; and Amy Diaz, Miss Rhode Island USA 2008.
