Beacon University, founded in 1975 by Dr. Ron Cottle, is situated in Columbus, Georgia. Also referred to as BU, the university grants degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctorate levels. These programs are in the fields of Biblical studies, organizational leadership, counseling ministry, cell church development, Biblical languages, and practical theology. BU is divided into the following academic schools:
- School of Human Services
- School of Leadership Studies
- School of Religious Studies
The student council of Beacon University is known as the Association of Beacon Students, or ABS. The student body helps to promote student cooperation with the administration and faculty. It also regulates student matters and activities and encourages student leadership development.
