Overview

Black River Technical College, also known as BRTC, is located in Pocahontas, Arkansas, United States. It was founded in 1972 as the Black River Vocational Technical School. In its first year, the college enrolled only 38 students. It settled on its present name in 1991 and is named after the Black River. The college's main campus spreads across an area of more than 90 acres and has approximately 20 buildings. BRTC boasts an enrollment of over 1500 students per term. It offers approximately 15 associate degree programs and more than 25 certificate programs.

BRTC offers a number of scholarship programs such as the Academic Distinction Scholarships, BRTC President’s Scholarships, Eddie Mae Herron Scholarship, Mary Sallee Single Parent Scholarship, Henry Culver Music Scholarship, BRTC Foundation Scholarships, and many more.

BRTC encourages the development of a wide variety of interest clubs and professional organizations. The college is also home to Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.
