Overview

Blackburn College, which was established in 1837, was named in honor of Rev. Gideon Blackburn. This private, coeducational, liberal arts college is located in Carlinville, Illinois. It is one of the seven Work Colleges in the United States.

Blackburn College offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in various fields of study. Courses are available in art, sciences, business administration, economics, computer science, education, performing arts, mathematics, and Spanish. The college, through its Leadership Program, offers students the opportunity to earn a Leadership Certificate in addition to the graduate degree.

Students of Blackburn College are involved in on-campus clubs and organizations like the Common Ground, Cultural Expressions, BOSA, Blackburn Christian Fellowship, The Element, Madrigals, and Habitat for Humanity. They also publish a monthly newspaper called the "Burnian". In addition, the college fields athletics teams in baseball, cross country, golf, basketball, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. The teams are nicknamed the Beavers.
