Bowie State University

Bowie State University is a historically black university located in Bowie, Maryland. It was founded in 1865 as the Baltimore Normal School. In 1908, it was renamed the Normal School No. 3, and in 1914, the school moved to Prince George's County, Maryland. It was renamed the Maryland State Teachers College at Bowie in 1935. On July 1, 1988, Bowie State College achieved university status and was given its present name.

Bowie State campus is home to a number of Greek-letter student fraternities and sororities, including Delta Sigma Theta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi and Zeta Phi Beta.

Bowie State's athletic teams are known as the Bulldogs and compete in intercollegiate football, track & field, softball, volleyball, tennis, basketball, cross country and bowling.

Bowie State Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. Bowie State is in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association for major sports.
