Overview

Bradley University was established in 1897 as the Bradley Polytechnic Institute. It was founded by philanthropist Lydia Moss Bradley. After a few name and status changes, it was given its present name in 1946. The university is commonly referred to as BU. In the 2007 edition of ‘Best Colleges of America’ by U.S. News & World Report, BU ranked 6th among universities granting comprehensive masters-degrees in the Midwestern United States. The university's campus covers more than 80 acres in Peoria, Illinois. BU is divided into the following academic school and colleges:

BU has several Greek fraternities and sororities, which are governed by the National Panhellenic Conference, North-American Interfraternity Conference and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Some of these organizations are Alpha Epsilon Pi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Phi Kappa Tau, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, Sigma Delta Tau, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Alpha Phi Omega, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Alpha Psi Omega.
