Overview

Brescia University, BU, is a 4-year, private, coeducational, Catholic university in Owensboro, Kentucky that was founded as Brescia College by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph in 1950. It became Brescia University on June 1, 1998. Degrees offered include Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Science. It also offers other programs like English as a second language, pre-professional programs, and STARS program. BU’s campus is comprised of more than 20 buildings.

Brescia University has several student clubs and organizations including the Spanish Club, the Student Government Association (SGA), the Kentucky Education Association (KEA), and the Pre-Professional Club.

The sports teams of BU are known as the Bearcats. The Bearcats field thirteen sports: 6 for men and 7 for women. Joey Goebel, an American author, is a notable graduate of the university.
