Overview

Briarwood College, also referred to as Briarwood, is a private associate's college in Southington, Connecticut that was founded as the Briarwood Secretarial School in 1966. The name was changed to Briarwood College in 1979. The campus is over 40 acres.

The college offers associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree and certificate programs in diverse areas of study. It is well-known for its programs in occupational therapy assistance, mortuary science, criminal justice, and dental hygiene.

Briarwood College has numerous student organizations including Cheerleaders, Student Government, Health Club, Dorm Council, SOTA (Student Occupational Therapy Association), Psi Beta (national honor society in psychology), and Student Ambassadors. The sports teams, which are known as the Wildcats, compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)’s Division III level.
