Overview

Brigham Young University-Idaho, also known as BYU-Idaho or BYU-I, is a four-year, private college located in Rexburg, Idaho.

The university is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and is part of its Church Educational System.

It was founded in 1888 as the Bannock Stake Academy and renamed BYU-Idaho in 2001.

BYU-Idaho's campus is spread more than 400 acres.

The university offers a wide variety of degrees and programs through the following academic divisions:

Some of the famous alumni of Brigham Young University-Idaho are Steven G. Hanks, former CEO of Washington Group International; Jared and Jerusha Hess, directors and screenwriters of "Napoleon Dynamite," the 2004 film; Krisi Clark, lead backup singer for Celine Dion; Keith Foote Nyborg, former U.S. Ambassador to Finland; Matt Lindstrom, MLB pitcher for the Florida Marlins; and Marion G. Romney, former member of the First Presidency.
