Overview

Brookhaven College is a community college of the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) and is located in Farmers Branch, Texas, United States, which serves northwest Dallas County. It was founded in 1978 as the seventh and newest college in the DCCCD. The college operates on a semester basis. It enrolls more than 9,000 students each semester. The campus of the college is spread across an area of 467,000 square feet.

Brookhaven offers associate degrees in applied science, arts and sciences, business majors, and nursing. Its coursework provides freshman and sophomore levels of academic credits that can by applied towards associate degrees as well as for transfers to four-year colleges or universities. Coursework for Brookhaven's core curriculum is guaranteed to transfer to public universities in Texas.

Together with its class options for transfer credits, the school's technical studies include accounting, automotive technology, business administration, child development, computer information systems, e-commerce, emergency medical services, geospatial technology, international business and trade, management, marketing, nursing, office technology, paramedicine, radiologic technology and visual communications. In 2006 Brookhaven added an Early College High School program.

Brookhaven also offers continuing education classes for personal or professional development. Available continuing ed subjects include art, business, computers, health care careers, education, English as a second language (ESL), music, nonprofit management, real estate and more. Corporate training is also available from the school.

Notable alumni of Brookhaven College are Kyan Douglas, Actor and Takudzwa Ngwenya, USA Rugby Player. Their official mascot is The Bears.
