Overview
California State University, Channel Islands, often abbreviated as CSUCI, is a coeducational, public university located in Camarillo, California. It was established in 2002 as a new campus under the California State University system. The campus of CSUCI stretches across nearly 670 acres of rural land. The university grants admission to more than 2,000 students every year. California State University, Channel Island offers study programs in the fields of liberal studies, art, science, and sociology, among others.
The students organizations and clubs within the university include the Political Action Club, Association of Health Pre-Professionals, Computer Science Club, Chabad Jewish Student Organization, El Club de Espaņol, Rotaract Club of CSUCI, Hillel Student Organization of CSUCI, and Free Radicals Science Club.
The athletic teams of California State University, Channel Islands are called the Dolphins. The official mascot of the University is Tsunami, the dolphin. The Dolphins participate in various intramural sports including quick ball, basketball, flag football, ultimate frisbee, soccer, and volleyball.
