Overview

California State University, also referred to as CSU, Chico State, or Cal State Chico, is located in Chico, California, United States. CSU is the second-oldest campus in the California State University system. The university was originally established in 1887 as a school. After a few name and status changes, it finally became California State University, Chico in 1972. This was a result of legislation being passed in 1971.

U.S. News & World Report(2008) ranked CSU 6th Best Public Master's Level University in the West. It offers various degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. It is organized into the following academic divisions:

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 15 meals weekly.

Athletics

The school is in the California Collegiate Athletic Association for major sports.
