Overview
California State University, Dominguez Hill, or CSUDH, was established in 1960 and is known as South Bay State College. The tentative name was changed to California State College at Palos Verdes in 1962. The first class was held in 1965. CSUDH settled on its present name in 1966. The campus covers more than 340 acres in Carson, California. The university offers over 40 undergraduate majors and approximately 22 master degrees. CSUDH is divided into the following academic units:
- College of Arts and Humanities
- College of Business Administration and Public Policy
- College of Education
- College of Extended and International Education
- College of Health and Human Services
- College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences
There is an active Greek Life at CSUDH. Some of the fraternities and sororities of the university are Delta Sigma Theta, Kappa Delta Chi, La Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Lambda Theta Phi, Phi Iota Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Sigma Lambda Beta, Phi Sigma Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Pi.
The athletic teams of CSUDH are popularly known as the Toros and compete in the NCAA Division II in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The men’s and women’s teams of the university include basketball, soccer, cross country, track and field, and volleyball.
