Overview
California State University, East Bay was established in 1957 as the State College for Alameda County. It was renamed to Alameda County State College in 1961 and became California State College at Hayward in 1963. It gained university status in 1972 and was named California State University, Hayward. On January 26, 2005, the university adopted its current name. It is also referred as CSU East Bay, Cal State East Bay and CSUEB, and is spread over 340 acres in the Eastern San Francisco Bay Area in Hayward, California. CSUEB is divided into the following colleges:
- College of Business and Economics
- College of Education and Allied Studies
- College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences
- College of Science
There is an active Greek life at CSUEB. Some of the fraternities and sororities are Alpha Kappa Omega, Alpha Phi Omega, Delta Chi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Zeta Chi Epsilon, Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Sigma Gamma Rho, Kappa Xi, Zeta Phi Beta, Delta Sigma Pi, and Phi Alpha Delta.
