Overview
California State University, Los Angeles was founded in 1947 as the Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences. The university is also referred as CSULA, Cal State L.A., or CSLA and is part of the California State University system. CSLA was renamed to California State College at Los Angeles in 1964. It gained the University status in 1972 and adopted its current name. CSLA is spread over 170 acres in Los Angeles, California. The university is organized into various academic units including:
