Cameron University

Cameron University is a four-year, state-funded university located in Lawton, Oklahoma. It was founded in 1908. Its first classes were held in the basement of a bank building on November 16, 1909. The university is named after Rev. E. D. Cameron, a Baptist minister and Oklahoma’s first State Superintendent of Schools. Cameron University offers over 50 degrees through its two-year, four-year and graduate programs. Cameron is the only university in Oklahoma that offers associates, bachelors and masters degree programs at a single site.

Cameron University also offers weekdays and evening classes. It utilizes television, the Internet and a statewide fiber-optics network to provide classes around the world. The campus is home to several student clubs and organizations. It also has an active Greek life with several fraternities and sororities.

Housing and Meals

Cameron provides on-campus housing for 720 of its 4,229 (full-time) students (as of 2008-2009).

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 15 meals weekly.

Athletics

The school is in the Lone Star Conference for major sports.

The school offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 11 male students received the aid (men were 42% of those receiving aid) and 15 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 58% of students receiving such aid) .
