Overview

The Catawba Valley Community College is a public community college situated in Hickory, North Carolina. CVCC was established in 1958 under the North Carolina Community College System. It was named Catawba Valley Community College in 1987. CVCC’s main campus is spread over an area of 120 acres. The college also operates the Alexander County Center, a College Art Center on Startown Highway, the Balls Creek Center, an Education Center in downtown Newton and an East Campus.

The Catawba Valley Community College sports department fields both men’s and women’s athletic teams, which participate in the intercollegiate NJCAA Division III. CVCC’s teams are known as the Buccaneers. The Catawba Valley Community College campus hosts several student organizations and clubs.
