Overview

The Catholic University of America is the only institution of higher education that was established by the Roman Catholic Bishops of the United States. It was founded as a graduate and research center on Easter Sunday of 1887 by the approval of Pope Leo XII. In 1904, it began providing undergraduate education. The CUA has been working in association with the Knights of Columbus for many years.

CUA has 11 schools, the Metropolitan College and 21 research centers. The schools provide Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in over 40 programs, and Masters degrees in over 90 areas. The six schools of CUA are:

  • School of Nursing
  • School of Philosophy

The schools also offers undergraduate degrees in over 80 programs. CUA also has more than 100 registered student clubs and organizations.
