Overview

The University of Central Missouri, or UCM, was established in 1871 as the State Normal School and later became Warrensburg Teachers College. In 1919, it was renamed to Central Missouri State Teachers College and to Central Missouri State College in 1946. The college gained university status in 1971 and was known as the Central Missouri State University. On September 20, 2006, UCM adopted its current name. The university campus encompasses more than 1500 acres in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Approximately 11% of UCM students are members of Greek Organizations. Some of these fraternities and sororities include the Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Tau Omega, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Delta Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Tau Gamma, Theta Chi, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and Zeta Phi Beta.
