Central State University

Central State University, also known as CSU, is located in Wilberforce, Ohio, United States. It was established in 1887 as part of Wilberforce University. It served as the Combined Normal and Industrial Department that provided vocational education and teacher training. It was separated from the university in 1947 and renamed the College of Education and Industrial Arts at Wilberforce, Ohio. The name was changed to Central State College in 1951. The college gained university status in 1965 and adopted its current name. CSU also has a branch campus in Dayton. The university is organized into the following colleges:

  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • College of Business and Industry
  • College of Education

CSU has approximately 30 on-campus student clubs and organizations including the Pre-Law Society, Kappa Alpha Psi, Student Government Association, Alpha Phi Alpha, Daughters of Nia Anaya, and Mu Phi Epsilon. The Greek letter organizations are governed by the CSU National Pan-Hellenic Council.

Housing and Meals

Central State provides on-campus housing for 1,352 of its 2,024 (full-time) students (as of 2008-2009).

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 19 meals weekly.

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Independent Great Lakes Region for major sports.
