Overview

Chabot College is a community college in California located in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. The campus is situated in Hayward, California, which is a few miles from California State University, East Bay. The college was founded on September 11, 1961, on a 7.5-acres temporary site in San Leandro. Chabots college’s present campus sits on an area of 94 acres.

Chabot offers more than 100 associate degrees and certificates in over 170 majors of study. The college operates on a semester basis. The campus features a 200-seater theatre, 1,432-seater performing arts center, full-size planetarium, athletic fields, and olympic-size swimming pool. The college also hosts a flea market on the third Saturday of every month.

Chabot has an enrollment of more than 15,000 students from over 25 countries and all continents. The most notable alumnus of the college is Academy Award winning actor, Tom Hanks.
