Overview
Chestnut Hill College was established in 1924 by The Sisters of St. Joseph as a women's college. It was originally named Mount Saint Joseph College and adopted its present name in 1938. Chestnut Hill College established a coeducational graduate education course in 1980. It began admitting male students in undergraduate programs in 2003. Presently, the campus occupies 45 acres of land overlooking Wissahickon Creek. Students are offered associate, bachelor, and master degrees, as well as doctoral programs in a variety of areas through the following schools.

Chestnut Hill College offers evenings and weekend classes to accommodate the schedules of older and working students. The college's athletic teams are known as the Griffins, and they compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
