The Chicago Theological Seminary, established in 1855, is the oldest institution of higher education in Chicago. The seminary enrolls gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students and is officially listed as an ‘Open and Affirming’ institution. It offers master’s degrees and doctoral degrees programs in religious studies, divinity, sacred theology, ministry and philosophy, among others.
The Chicago Theological Seminary offers various clubs and organizations to its students, including the Charles Shelby Rooks Society, the Heyward Boswell Society, The Eco-Justice Student Group and The International Student Organization, among others. The seminary provides academic counseling and financial aid in the form of grants and scholarships.
