Citadel Military College Of South Carolina

Citadel Military College of South Carolina, also referred to as The Citadel, is a state-supported, comprehensive college located in Charleston, South Carolina, United States. It was founded in the year 1842. The Citadel has more than 12 academic departments organized into 5 schools that offer over 15 majors and more than 20 minors. Kiplinger's magazine ranked The Citadel among its "Best Values in Public Colleges" for the year 2006. The campus, which spreads across an area of 300 acres, consists of more than 25 buildings. It also includes a ten-acre grass parade ground.

Student life at Citadel Military College of South Carolina is diverse. The undergraduate cadets at The Citadel are associates of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Their official mascot is the General and Boo V.

Housing and Meals

The Citadel provides on-campus housing for 2,138 of its 2,666 (full-time) students (as of 2007). The school requires freshmen to live on campus.

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 20 meals weekly.

The Citadel Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The Citadel is in the Southern Conference for major sports.
