Overview

Claremont Graduate University, also known as CGU, is located in Claremont, California, United States. It was established in 1925 as Claremont University College and is the oldest graduate university in the United States. It became Claremont Graduate School and University Center in 1962 and Claremont University Center in 1967. The university settled on its present name in 1998. CGU enrolls more than 2,000 students. The campus encompasses over 15 acres and is organized into the following schools:

Some notable alumni of CGU are Stephen Cambone, the first U.S. undersecretary of defense for intelligence; Thomas Farrell, Deputy assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of State for academic programs; and Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran, the President of Kalamazoo College.
