Overview

Clark College is a community college located in Vancouver, Washington, United States. The college was founded as a private, two-year, junior college in 1933. In 2008, it celebrated its 75th anniversary. The college was originally called Vancouver Junior College. It first received state support in 1941. The college was finally incorporated into the statewide community college system in 1967.

Clark College’s main campus is spread across an area of more than 100 acres. The college offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in nursing, dental hygiene, and industrial arts. It also provides general adult education and preparation for four-year university degrees.

The college’s mascot is a Galapagon penguin named Oswald. Notable alumni of Clark College are Jess Hartley, novelist and role playing game writer; Denis Hayes, environmental activist; and Sam Elliott, actor.
