Overview

College of the Albemarle, which opened on September 21, 1961, is located in Albemarle, North Carolina. Also known as COA, the main campus of the college is located in Elizabeth City. Satellite campuses are located in Manteo and Edenton. The school is a part of the North Carolina Community College System. The college offers education in several areas include engineering technologies, business technologies, public service technologies, and agricultural and natural resources. The college also offers distance learning facilities.

The sports teams of the College of the Albemarle are nicknamed as the Dolphins and the college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The teams participate in baseball, and softball. The students participate in the Edenton-Chowan Student Clubs, the Spanish Club, the Business and Office Systems Club, and the Professional Arts Club.
