Overview

The College of the Redwoods is a two-year public community college in Humboldt County, California. It was initially established as the Redwoods Community College District in 1964 by the people of Humboldt County. CR now operates two satellite campuses:

  • CR Del Norte in Crescent City
  • CR Mendocino Coast in Fort Bragg

The College of the Redwoods also has four off-campus sites:

  • Arcata Instructional Site
  • Bianchi Farm
  • Eureka Downtown Instructional Site
  • Klamath-Trinity Instructional Site

The campus is spread over an area of 334 acres. More than 15,000 students enroll in the College of the Redwoods every year. Transfers, vocational and community-based classes are offered by CR every year. There are over 15 departments in the college, some of which are addiction studies, administration of justice, business, automotive technology, drafting, graphic communications, hospitality, restaurant and culinary arts and information sciences. The world-famous Fine Woodworking Program was started in CR by woodworker James Krenov.

The college also has a number of clubs and organizations, inclduing the CR Women's Club, the Digital Arts and Science Club, Phi Theta Kappa Honors Club, Spanish Club, Science and Math Club, and the Forestry and Natural Resources Technology Club.
